June is blowing by

So I haven't taken many pictures this month, and June has seemed to blow by so quickly. (It's nearly the fourth of July- that's right... crazy.)
  • On June 8th, I started a summer long internship at Seedco Financial, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). I am working with the portfolio management team, analysing non-perfomring loans. As a non-profit lender, Seedco Financial extends affordable financing to small businesses and non-profits located in underserved, low-income communities. They also do quite a lot of work with emergency economic recovery, for example, after 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the week long power outage in Queens in 2006.
  • I am very happy to be home during the evenings again. We eat dinner at about 6:30 or 7 (much earlier than the 9:40-10:00 dinners while I was in school) and then usually take a walk around the neighborhood. June has been extremely wet, raining nearly everyday, so our walks are misty and fresh-scented We have gotten 8.74 inches of rain so far this month (which I'm sure doesn't count the rain coming down right now) and the June average is only 3.45 inches (weather.com stats). Everyone is ready for some sun. But rain has meant cooler weather, and we haven't even thought about digging out our air conditioner yet. Maybe sometime soon.
  • Last weekend we traveled to PA to visit my parents for Father's Day. They recently returned from a two month stint in southern California where my Dad was getting proton treatments for prostate cancer. Everything seemed to go well- he has to go back in 6 months for the results- and he is feeling pretty good. They are motivated to eat healthier, and made two wonderful vegetable laden dishes while we were there. My cousin Emily was also there because she had to get her car inspected in PA, and we enjoyed hanging out with her.
  • While we were in Waynesboro I also went to a bridal shower for my good friend, Rachel Harbaugh. Just about twenty days older than me, Rachel and I have literally been life-longfriends and I'm super excited she's getting married later this summer! Here is a picture of Rachel and her fiance George (from her facebook).
  • Another big happening this month was the birth of Holden Baker Brown, the son of Bryan's cousin Andy and his wife Abby. We haven't gotten a chance to meet him yet, but hope to soon. Welcome Holden!!! Here's a picture of the Brown family with their newest addition. (This is from Melanie's facebook)
I know, I need to get my own camera out. I will hopefully have some pictures to post in July. Until then~
